Terms of Service
Your statutory rights: Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 in relation to digital content that is defective, not as described, or not supplied with reasonable care and skill.
1. Who we are
“Coastal Studios”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Coastal Studios, a trading name of Rhys D. Helsby, based in the United Kingdom. We create Roblox assets, maps and experiences, as well as web applications, tools and related services.
By accessing or using any of our websites, products, Discord services, commissions or Roblox experiences, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
2. Eligibility and accounts
- You must follow the age rules of any platform you use (for example, Roblox and Discord require users to be at least 13 years old).
- Access to the Coastal Studios Portal, where digital products are delivered and downloaded, is only available to users aged 13 years or older with a valid account.
- If you use a payment card and are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
- If a purchase is made by or on behalf of someone under 18, you confirm that parental or guardian consent has been obtained for both the purchase and acceptance of these Terms.
- You are responsible for keeping your accounts and devices secure and for any actions taken using them.
3. Our products and licences
All products, including scripts, maps, builds, models, UI, textures, logos and web software, remain the intellectual property of Coastal Studios.
When you purchase or are granted access to a product, you receive a limited, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use it for your own personal projects, subject to these terms. You do not own the underlying content.
4. Prohibited uses of our content
You must not:
- Resell, redistribute or re-upload our products, assets or code to any marketplace, asset library, group store or website.
- Share products with others outside your own Roblox account or project, unless we have provided explicit written permission.
- Claim our work, branding or designs as your own.
- Use our assets in NFTs, AI training datasets or similar commercial content without written consent.
❌ Do not upload our content to public asset libraries, group games or third-party sites.
❌ Do not use the Coastal Studios name, logo or branding to promote unrelated content.
⚠️ Serious violations may result in bans, takedowns, removal of licences and, where
appropriate, legal action or recovery of losses.
5. Purchases, payments and pricing
We sell products in two main ways:
- Website purchases: processed securely by Stripe on our behalf.
- Roblox / Robux purchases: via official Roblox experiences or developer products.
By completing a purchase on our website you also agree to Stripe’s Terms of Service and any relevant banking or card provider rules. You must ensure your payment details are correct and authorised at the time of purchase.
Before purchasing any digital product (including via Robux), you acknowledge that delivery is made exclusively via the Coastal Studios Portal and/or Roblox systems. Age-based restrictions or moderation settings may limit access, and we cannot provide alternative delivery unless the product itself is defective.
6. Refunds and cancellations
Because our products are digital and delivered electronically:
- Digital products are generally non-refundable once delivered.
- Digital content is considered delivered once it becomes available via the Coastal Studios Portal or the Roblox platform to the account used for purchase.
- We may offer a refund where a product is genuinely faulty or not delivered, at our discretion and subject to UK consumer law.
- Your statutory right to remedy (repair, replacement or refund) applies only where the digital content is defective, not as described, or not supplied with reasonable care and skill.
- Inability to access a product due to age restrictions, platform moderation or account settings does not constitute non-delivery or fault.
- If you believe there is a problem, you must contact us within 14 days of purchase with proof of payment and a clear description of the issue.
Robux purchases are always non-refundable. Roblox does not allow developers to return Robux or reverse completed transactions. If you purchase a Coastal Studios product with Robux, you understand that no refund can be provided unless Roblox itself offers one.
7. Roblox store products and age restrictions
- Products purchased through Roblox are tied to the specific Roblox account that bought them and cannot be transferred or shared.
- Under-13 accounts may have limited access to content or communications based on Roblox’s safety and privacy settings, which we cannot override.
- Products purchased via Roblox must be accessed through the Coastal Studios Portal, which requires users to be aged 13 or over. Users under 13, or whose accounts are restricted, may not be able to access their purchase.
- If access is lost due to account age, moderation, restrictions or changes you make to your account, we are not obliged to refund or provide alternate access unless the product itself is faulty.
- It is the responsibility of the purchaser or supervising adult to ensure access requirements are met before purchasing.
8. Chargebacks, disputes and bans
If you open a payment dispute or chargeback with Stripe, your bank or Roblox without contacting us first, we may:
- Revoke your licences and product access.
- Ban your account(s) from our games, websites or Discord.
- Record the event in our internal security logs and, where appropriate, pursue recovery of costs arising from fraudulent or abusive disputes.
9. Commissions and custom work
For commissions (custom assets, maps, configurations or systems):
- We will usually agree a brief and price with you in advance.
- Part-payment or non-refundable deposits may be required before work starts.
- If you cancel after work has begun, any refund will normally exclude the value of work already completed.
- Unless otherwise agreed in writing, we retain the underlying IP and grant you a licence to use the commissioned work.
10. Discord and community rules
- Respect staff and other members.
- No harassment, hate speech, discrimination or bullying.
- No spam, flooding, excessive pinging or disruptive behaviour.
- No advertising or self-promotion without permission.
- No sharing of leaked, pirated or stolen content.
Moderators may warn, mute, kick or ban users where they believe it is appropriate to protect the community.
11. Liability and disclaimers
- We do not guarantee that our products will be error-free, uninterrupted or compatible with every device, game or configuration.
- We are not responsible for any loss of data, progress, earnings or other indirect or consequential losses arising from use of our products.
- Our total liability to you for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid for the affected product or service.
12. Third-party services
We rely on several third-party platforms (for example, Roblox, Discord, Stripe and hosting/CDN providers). We are not responsible for outages, moderation decisions, account actions or technical issues on those platforms.
13. Termination of access
We may suspend or terminate your access to products, licences or services if:
- You seriously or repeatedly breach these terms.
- We suspect fraud, chargeback abuse or other unlawful activity.
- We are required to do so by law, platform rules or a third-party provider.
14. Governing law
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will, where possible, be resolved informally first. If that is not possible, they may be brought before the courts of England and Wales.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time, for example if we add new features, change how we operate, or to reflect changes in law. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of our services after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
Privacy & Cookie Policy
1. Data controller
For the purposes of UK data protection law (including UK GDPR), the data controller is:
Coastal Studios
Trading name of Rhys D. Helsby
United Kingdom
Email: privacy@coastalstudios.uk
2. What data we collect
We collect and process a limited amount of personal data in order to run our services safely and effectively. This may include:
- Account and identity data: Roblox user ID, username, group rank, and profile information obtained through Roblox OAuth or similar platform features.
- Licence and purchase data: Product IDs, licence keys or entitlements, transaction references from Stripe or Roblox, timestamps and status (for example, active, revoked, banned).
- Contact data: Name, email address, and the content of messages you send us (for example, via email or support forms).
- Usage and security data: IP address, device or browser type, basic technical logs, audit events and error reports. We use these mainly for security, abuse prevention and debugging.
- Community data: Discord user IDs and message content where bots or logging features interact with our services, in line with the rules and expectations of the community.
- Cookies and similar technologies: small data stored in your browser to keep you logged in, protect your session and prevent fraud.
3. How we use your data
We use personal data only where we have a lawful reason to do so. Typical uses include:
- Providing and managing our services, including licence checks, product downloads and access controls.
- Processing payments and keeping necessary financial records.
- Preventing fraud, abuse and unauthorised use of our products.
- Responding to support requests, questions and complaints.
- Monitoring server health, debugging technical issues and improving stability.
- Complying with legal and regulatory obligations, including record-keeping for tax purposes.
4. Legal bases under UK GDPR
Depending on the situation, we may rely on one or more of the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract: for example, when we need your data to deliver a product you have purchased.
- Legitimate interests: such as keeping our services secure, preventing abuse and improving reliability. We balance these interests against your rights and expectations.
- Consent: where we rely on your explicit agreement, such as for optional communications. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation: where we are required to keep certain records or provide information to public authorities.
5. Roblox, Robux and platform-specific details
When you purchase a product via Roblox or link your Roblox account to our systems, we may receive information from the Roblox platform such as your user ID, username and purchase details. We use this to:
- Verify that you own a product or game pass.
- Provide in-game access or benefits tied to your account.
- Investigate suspected abuse, chargeback fraud or unauthorised redistribution.
Robux purchases are processed and controlled by Roblox. We do not see your payment card information for Robux transactions, but we may receive non-financial information required to confirm that a transaction took place.
Age restrictions: Roblox accounts for users under 13 may have limited features or communications. These restrictions are set by Roblox and we cannot override them. If content becomes inaccessible due to Roblox’s safety settings or parental controls, this does not create a right to a refund from us.
6. Cookie Policy
We currently use cookies only for core functionality, such as:
- Remembering your login or session.
- Protecting our forms and API endpoints against abuse.
- Basic security and load-balancing.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies or invasive tracking cookies. Any analytics we run will be configured in a privacy-respecting way and, where required, will be clearly explained and subject to your consent.
7. Sharing your data
We only share your data with third parties when necessary, for example:
- Payment providers: Stripe, to process card payments and handle payment security.
- Platform providers: Roblox, Discord and similar services where integration is required.
- Hosting and infrastructure: website hosts, content delivery networks (CDNs), email providers and error logging tools.
- Legal and compliance: where we are required to share information with law enforcement, regulators or courts.
We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or data brokers.
8. International transfers
Some of our infrastructure and providers may be located outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we take steps to ensure it remains protected, for example by using UK-approved Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards where required.
9. Data retention
We only keep personal data for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purposes described above, including any legal, accounting or reporting requirements. For example:
- Payment and transaction records are typically kept for up to 7 years for tax and accounting purposes.
- Security and audit logs may be kept for longer where necessary to investigate or prevent abuse.
- Support conversations are usually retained for around 1 year, unless we need to keep them longer due to an ongoing issue.
10. Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you may have the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Ask us to delete your data in certain circumstances (“right to be forgotten”).
- Ask us to restrict or object to certain types of processing.
- Request that we transfer your data to another provider where technically feasible.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on your consent.
Some of these rights may be limited, for example where we are required by law to keep certain records. To exercise any of these rights, please email privacy@coastalstudios.uk.
11. Children’s data
Our services are aimed at Roblox and gaming communities and are not designed to collect personal data directly from young children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without appropriate consent where required by law.
If you believe that a child has provided personal data to us improperly, please contact us and we will review and, where appropriate, delete that data.
12. Security
We take technical and organisational measures to help protect your data, including:
- Using HTTPS/TLS encryption for our websites and APIs.
- Limiting access to systems that handle personal data.
- Maintaining logs and alerts to detect suspicious activity.
- Keeping our platforms and dependencies updated where possible.
No system is perfectly secure, but we aim to apply sensible, proportionate protections given the nature of the data we handle.
13. Complaints
If you have concerns about how we handle your data, please contact us first at privacy@coastalstudios.uk and we will try to resolve the issue.
You also have the right to complain to the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). You can find information about how to do this on the ICO website.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy & Cookie Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Effective Date” at the top of this page. Where changes are material, we may also provide an additional notice (for example, on our website or via Discord).
By continuing to use our services after any changes take effect, you agree to the updated policy.
